“My hunger is now SO MUCH more manageable” August 19 2015 by Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt, MD in Chronic pain, Diabetes stories, Success stories Ben Mallon, Texas, just had a wake up call where his urine sugar was found to be sky rocketing, probably due to type 2 diabetes. While waiting for a doctor’s appointment he found the Diet Doctor site and changed his diet. Here’s what has happened in just a couple of weeks: The Email Sir, thank you for your work with the LCHF diet. About 12 days ago I provided a urine specimen for my urologist, a follow-up after a bout with kidney stones eight months ago. The technician asked why my urine sugar was over 500 (28 mmol/l) and told me it should be zero. That was my wake up call. I had a long wait to see the doctor and found your website. I started following low-carb principles that day. I weighed 225 pounds (102 kg) that day. I am 5’11” (180 cm) and almost 60 years old. I dropped 7-8 pounds (3.5 kg) in three days (water, I guess) and have been dropping slowly since. I weigh 210 pounds this morning. My chronic back pain is reduced, I think the spikes in blood sugar from my previous diet were contributing to the inflammation. And of course my lower back has a little less belly to carry around now. My hunger is now SO MUCH more manageable. It used to be in-my-face “Feed me NOW” hunger. Now its just a gentle reminder that it would be ok to eat sometime, no hurry. One evening I was working outside in my yard and wanted to keep going before I lost the daylight. I worked about four hours past my usual suppertime without any problems. When I finally ate I wasn’t desperately hungry and eating everything in sight, I just prepared eggs and sausage and ate a little, saving the rest for two more meals. In the past I would have gobbled it all down because of crazy hunger. My fingers have been cracking and bleeding for several years, I think from undiagnosed type 2 diabetes. My fingers are healing now and are almost cleared up. Thank you again for your work. God bless you. Ben Mallon, Abilene, Texas Comment Sounds like a great start Ben! Congratulations and keep going! A reduced hunger is typical on a low-carb high-fat diet, and it’s a great way to reverse early type 2 diabetes.
