Robin had been battling her weight her entire life and she had tried every diet there is without any long-term success. When her doctor wanted to put her on cholesterol medication she told him to give her time. She went home that day and started a low-carb diet :
Hello,
I figured I would share my low-carb success story. My name is Robin Anderson, I’m 47 years old from The United States.
I’ve battled with my weight all my life. I remember crying in dressing rooms as a teen because I could never find jeans that fit, was never able to fit in the “cool” clothes and faced ridicule at school. I tried Weight Watchers, Atkins, following a low-fat diet and more. The weight might come off for a while but would always come back.
Three and a half years ago, I visited my doctor and weighed in at 220 pounds (100 kg) – the most I had ever weighed. At 4’9 (145 cm), that was a lot of extra weight to be carrying around. I was having trouble climbing stairs, wheezing at night and my doctor was wanting to put me on cholesterol medication. I remember telling him to give me time. That day I went home and started following a low-carb plan, eating no more than 60 grams of carbs a day.
In the two and a half years, I was eating that way, I lost 40 pounds (18 kg). I was feeling good, but I was frustrated with the many plateaus that I faced and on January 14, 2017, I was venting to my husband about yet another plateau. He had been hearing a lot about keto and suggested I should check out the Diet Doctor website. Well, after reading about it, I figured why not. The lower carb restriction wouldn’t be much different from what I was doing.
I feel better than I have in a very, very long time
The first week, I lost five pounds (2 kg), my energy level was through the roof and I felt great. 11 months in, I’m happy to report that I’ve lost a total of 40 pounds (18 kg) since starting the keto lifestyle for a grand total of 80 pounds (36 kg)! When visiting my doctor there aren’t any conversations about cholesterol medication and I feel better than I have in a very, very long time – I feel like I’m in my early 30s as opposed to 47.
Thank you Diet Doctor for helping me find a lifestyle that works for me!
Thanks,
Robin Anderson
