Dr. David Cavan, MD , is an experienced diabetes physician who has expertise in all areas of diabetes management. He is especially interested in supporting lifestyle change to manage and reverse type 2 diabetes , and in intensive management of type 1 diabetes including insulin pump therapy.
Dr. Cavan is an active promoter of self-management and has been working extensively on the development of education programs for people with diabetes.
For nearly two decades, he worked as a consultant physician at the Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre , where he oversaw the development of education programs for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Cavan was also the previous chair of the Education and Psychosocial Care Section of Diabetes UK , where he contributed to the development of the National Service Framework for Diabetes .
In 2013, he moved to Brussels to work for three years as the Director of Policy and Programmes at the International Diabetes Federation . His main responsibility there was overseeing projects and programs that addressed the different needs of people with diabetes at a global level.
In 2017 he was closely involved in the development of Diabetes Reversal Programme in Bermuda that has proven to be successful .
He has now returned to the UK as an independent consultant to work on different diabetes-related projects, while also resuming clinical practice.
